I guess you learn something new every day. I didn't know Beatles song twist and shout. I've only heard the Isley brothers version. Hound dog I've heard and like both equally. I do believe that Leiber and Stoller the two guys who wrote it should get more credit. Phil and Bert should get more credit for writing twist and shout. Bert also helped Wes write this song.

The reason explained in this video to a degree is BS. There wew many black artists who released songs that were huge hits. The four tops, the coasters, Drifters, Temptations, Supremes etc. I have been guitarist since 1963 and played in bands my entire life. The very first act I saw live was the Supremes. I have researched the history of the Beatles extensively and it’s a known fact that they loved a lot of the black artists and performed them as covers long before they were known. Many of the British bands felt the same way. There were issues as far as where and who the black artists could perform and stay in the early 50’s. 100% wrong and totally unacceptable. People in the rat pack were examples of artists who helped put a stop to the segregation as they supported Sammy Davis stating that if he couldn’t perform they wouldn’t perform.

went here 74-80, it was a rough time, wish I'd picked another school, classes were hard, girls weren't friendly, weather was rainy and cold a lot, I'd go elsewhere if I could do it again, hard here to have social life unless you're into drinking or part of the Greek system -- maybe it changed, but big state schools can overwhelm you - lots of crime in the campus area
